A few kilometres further north, Duanes de la Mar and the port feel more maritime and more closely tied to everyday Xabia. That contrast is what makes the combination worthwhile: beach or a promenade walk first, then boats, harbour scenery and a different side of town. Do not treat the Arenal and the port as the same place
They are two distinct parts of Javea’s waterfront. The Arenal lies further south and is defined by its sandy beach and promenade, while the port around Duanes de la Mar has a more maritime, local feel. Seeing both gives you a much broader impression of the town by the sea.

A relaxed way to combine both areas
There is no need to turn it into a strict sightseeing route. Walk around the port and then move on to the Arenal, or reverse the order. If swimming matters most, allow more time at the Arenal; if you prefer boats, harbour scenery and an easy stroll, spend longer around Duanes de la Mar.

Continue south from the Arenal
From the Arenal, the coast naturally leads towards Portitxol, Cap Negre, Cap de la Nau and Balcon al Mar. That makes it a useful transition from the livelier bay to the quieter southern coastline without constantly doubling back across town.

After the beach, promenade and harbour, you may not want to head back into the centre for dinner. Balcon al Mar sits closer to the southern coastal sights and makes a relaxed next stop once the busier part of the day is behind you.
